Help With Stock Trading Course CDs

Solution for Windows Vista Problem with Video not Playing:

1. Locate the Drive which you have inserted the CD into (you can use Windows Explorer or by double clicking on "My Computer"

2. Double Click on that Drive

3. Fine the executable file (stc.exe) and Right click over it.

4. Click the tab on the top that says "compatibility"

5. Check the box that asks if the program has worked on an earlier version of Windows

6. Select XP as the version.

Please note that you will need to repeat this step with all the CDs.

Situation: I insert the CD into my CD-ROM drive and nothing happens.

Solution: Your auto-run might be turned off. To start the Course manually, follow these instructions:

Double-click on My Computer located on the desktop.

Right-click on the drive where the CD is inserted. (i.e. D: )

Choose Open from the list. This should browse the CD.

Double-Click on the file stc.exe

This should start the course.

Situation: The course starts and the License Agreement is displayed but I can only see half of the screen, there are no Navigation buttons to click on.

Solution: Your screen resolution is lower than 1024 X 768 (the minimum requirement needed to view the course). To set your resolution properly, follow these instructions:

Right-click on the Desktop and choose Properties.

Choose the settings tab (on the top).

Change the resolution to 1024 X 768 and click OK.

After the new resolution is set, start the course again. If done correctly, you should be able view the course in full scale.

Situation:  I start the Course and I hear the instructor and see the presentation area but I can’t see the instructor in the top left corner. There is no video.

Solution: You need to have the right Video Codec. (A video codec is a group of files needed in order to play digital video on your computer)

Note: You should only download and install this Codec if you cannot see the Video in the top left corner of the course. (i.e.  Vid150 Decompressor not found)

Go to the following link and download the Indeo 5.x Video Codec and follow the step-by-step instructions.

 http://cas.bellarmine.edu/tietjen/Resources/Indeo%20V5.0/indeo_5.htm

Situation: I start the Course but my computer halts while the Loading screen appears.

Solution: You may have run out of disk space. Make sure that you have at least

150 Megabytes of free disk space before you start the course. One way to free disk space would be to use the Disk Cleanup feature in Windows 98SE or better.

Situation: I insert the CD and the Intro starts but nothing happens after the Intro is over.

Solution: You may have a problem with Auto-loading. You can start the Course manually by following these instructions:

Double-click on My Computer located on the desktop.

Right-click on the drive where the CD is inserted. (i.e. D:)

Choose Open from the list. This should browse the CD.

Double-Click on the file STS.exe

This should start the course.
